Legal forms by country
The company types each market recognises, by their real names, with the value to send and whether the form is fundable.
business.entity_type takes one of the values below for the country of the request.
Read them live from GET /enums/company-types?country= or pick the market here.
| Value | Abbreviation | Legal form | Local name | Fundable |
|---|---|---|---|---|
private_limited_company | Ltd | Private limited company | Private company limited by shares | yes |
public_limited_company | PLC | Public limited company | Public limited company | yes |
limited_liability_partnership | LLP | Limited liability partnership | Limited liability partnership | yes |
community_interest_company | CIC | Community interest company | Community interest company | yes |
sole_trader | Sole trader | Sole trader | Sole trader | accepted, not fundable |
general_partnership | Partnership | General partnership | Partnership | accepted, not fundable |
other_not_yet_incorporated | Other | Other or not yet incorporated | Other or not yet incorporated | accepted, not fundable |
🇬🇧 United Kingdom: 7 legal forms, 4 of them fundable. Sole traders are accepted so a lead can be recorded, and are told there is no option rather than being dropped.
A value that is accepted but not fundable still creates the lead, so a sole trader is recorded and told there is no option rather than being dropped at the door.
The generic values the first release accepted for the EU markets (private_limited_company,
public_limited_company, partnership, sole_trader) are still accepted for one release
and are listed as deprecated by GET /enums/company-types. Move to the market's own forms.
